Gacheon Darangyi Village

Darangyi Village is located on the edge of Namhae-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, and the Seolheulsan Mountain falls into the ocean. On a slope of 45 ~ 70 degrees, a stonewall is built and a terraced farm of more than 108 stories has been cultivated. This shows how determined our ancestors were. One day, a farmer discovered that one baemi (Baemi : A counting unit of rice paddy) was missing during his daily count. No matter how many times he counted, he couldn't find it. He gave up and decided to go home. As he lifted his satgat, he found his missing baemi of rice paddy. Just like in the story, Darangyi Village consists of small satgat baemi to rice paddies as large as 300 pyeong. It is located alongside the ocean but there is not a single boat in the village. Garlic and rice are the primary profit crops in this village. Located in the southernmost tip, it is warm with no snow even in midwinter. It is the first place for spring greens such as mugwort and spinach to sprout, and the onshore winds keep the crops from disease and insect pests.
